Santa!

On Sunday we headed downtown to see Santa! We went down the the Ellipse to see the National Tree and visit "Santa's Workshop." It was so cute! The line winds through the workshop and they had all sorts of cute things to look at to get the kids excited! When it was their big moment, Ella clung to my leg so we let Kade go first. Once she saw him up there she was fine sitting with Santa but there was no way she was going to sit there with out her big brave brother! Kade was verrrrrry serious about letting Santa know exactly what he is hoping for. He asked for a watering can, broom and dust pan, and a Lego race set. We have NO idea where he comes up with this stuff! In the car on the way there Ella said she wanted a pumpkin and crayons. Santa could have gotten off pretty cheap had he not planned ahead!

Williamsburg VA

My mom came in town during the week of Thanksgiving. We had a great time lounging, eat, sleeping, shopping, and ever squeezed in a few adventures! We had our traditional Thanksgiving meal on Wednesday. And then on Thanksgiving we loaded up and drove to Williamsburg Virginia to explore and have a traditional Thanksgiving in an old Tavern! We LOVED Williamsburg! We really want to make another trip out there because there was so much to see and do!! We explored the old Colonial Town and then had dinner reservations at Chownings Tavern. Everyone was dressed in Colonial garb, and we enjoyed a great dinner! It was a really great day and week!

My mom helped me set up my sitting area while she was here! Before and after!

Wednesday night, enjoying our pre-Thanksgiving feast!

Funny story, Kade kept telling us he couldn't wait to have turkey on Thanksgiving. The problem was, we were having prime rib, not turkey. On Wednesday morning he woke up SO excited about having turkey. He even told us that if there wasn't turkey he would be reallllly sad. (This kid!!) So what did we do? We ran to the grocery store and picked up a rotisserie chicken and passed it off as the turkey. He even watched us "carve" it. Right here he was saying "mmmm mmmm this is a good turkey leg!" HAHA!

Christmas at the Gaylord

Last night we headed to National Harbor to check out their Christmas Tree and to go to the Gaylord. Back home, going to the Gaylord is one of my favorite activities because it is so beautiful and festive! We love to walk around and see all the decorations! The Gaylord here is a little bit smaller than the one back home but it was still so pretty! We watched the water show and saw the snow falling! The kids loved it! We also walked over to the big tree at the Harbor and watched the light show. It was a fun Christmas-y night!

National Harbor

A few weeks ago I decided that the kids and I needed to get out and go do something fun. We aren't far from National Harbor so we went and wandered around that area. It had been a few years since I had been there and I wanted to see how much it had grown! And I just love it down there, we can't wait to go back with Bryan during Christmas! It was a pretty perfect day, no fits or tantrums, both kids were generally happy, we ate at an actual restaurant and it all went well, and I totally forgot to pay the parking meter and never got a ticket. Good day all around!

It was pretty chilly being right on the water but that didn't stop these two! They loved playing here!
