Bipolar weather

We are very used to crazy weather. Texas weather is pretty bipolar. Up until this point we have talked about how consistent the seasons were here. 

Enter Spring. And now, it's all over the place....from 70s to snowstorms. The only way we are handling the snow at this point is knowing that a warm up should be quick to follow. We had almost a week of gorgeous spring like weather! We spent it outside every chance we could get. Play dates at the park, bike rides, baseball in the backyard, hikes, tourist days in DC... it has been glorious! And it all came to an abrupt end as it is currently snowing and we are expected to get around 6 inches. 

You have to take the good with the bad and we are trying to make the best of it. I have some projects tomorrow that involved making green snow for St. Patricks Day. So we will see how that goes! 

Two weekends ago we hiked nearly 5 miles over the course of the weekend and these two did awesome! 

On Saturday we met Matt at Arlington cemetery. He is heading home in a few weeks and we wanted him to give us a tour of the cemetery before he left! He does color guard in the Army for funerals there so he had a lot of insight! 

These are from a week or so ago... During our last snowstorm. I think we can only handle so many more games and puzzles before we lose our minds :) 

I was cleaning up the house and K called me over to show me he did his States map puzzle all by himself! He was so proud!! 

Nanny visits!

Last week Nanny was here and we had the best week! Naturally, we had a pretty big snow storm and freezing weather. I don't know why but every time she comes out we have the worst weather! We are having spring like weather this week, I wish this is the weather we would have had when she was here! Either way, we were all excited to see her and we just had so much fun hanging around the house and redoing our master bedroom! Her visit kind of kicks off all of our upcoming guests! We will have guests coming every few weeks from now until July!!! We are so excited!!!

All about hair!

Ella's hair is growing like a weed! I'm envious of her hair because it is thick and straight with a slight bit of curl. I feel like the longer hair had taken all the baby out of her! 

I've been working on French braids.. I need aloooooot of work :)

 I also need to invest in a comb. 

Ella is so funny and so particular about how I fix her hair each day. She requests braves (braids) a lot and asks me to make a good park (part). She makes me laugh so hard! 

I love my little pony tail girl... Even when she is in time out :) 

Randoms!

We have been having a lot of fun lately. Nothing too exciting but just our day to day fun! 

Last week it sorta kinda felt like winter was over....minus all the snow on the ground. We got to play outside for several days!! Unfortunately winter in back with a bang and it currently feels like ONE degree outside. Tomorrow is March 1 for crying out loud, it shouldn't be this cold anymore!! 

I told the kids to he careful bc there were puddles of melted snow everywhere at the park... One of the first things he did was fall off the tire swing right in to a huge puddle. Haha! 

On Saturday night we had our first date night in over 6 months! We finally found a babysitter and she is amazing! We went out to dinner in DC with new friends from our church. We had such a great time and can't wait to do it again!

Static hair! 

Kade has been loving his stomp rocket he got for Christmas! 

After a weekend of some seriously beautiful weather we had snow two days in a row. I am just so happy to hear that this winter has been one of the worst here. We have seriously been averaging snow once or twice a week since January. And I do love snow but I am so tired of being cold!! 

I decided that I could no longer "not drive in the snow". We broke out of the house and went shopping at Costco. 

Valentines Party and Chapel

Last week the kids preschool lead chapel for the entire school! They sang a few songs, talked with the principal, and helped out with offering. Kade did awesome! Ella on the other hand had a rough day. She cried (for no reason) for about 2.5 hours. She didn't want to sit with the kids at chapel but when she was with me she didn't want to sit with me. It was exhausting to say the least :) 

After chapel each of their classes had a Valentines party. Ella cried through hers, except for a few minutes when she was excited to eat a donut, haha! We went down to Kade's and we left pretty soon after they exchanged their little valentines with each other. Ella was beyond all control at that point! 

Frosty was still standing! 

Party for a Princess

The kids school held a Princess Party as a fundraiser so I had to take my little princess. Let's just say that she was in her element. They got their makeup done, nails done, made tiaras, had their face painted, made musical instruments, and had a dance and fashion show. It was so much fun!
