Summer fun!

Our summer has been fast and furious! We had have a BLAST! Trips, weekend adventures, swim lessons, VBS, week longs visits from family...we have been anything but bored. I seriously can't believe it is already August.

Frozen on the big screen one night when Hailey was in town.

One day when H was in town I took the kids to tour Ford's Theater and then to the American History museum. We had a great time but by the time we got back in the car we were all hot and exhausted!

On Hailey's last day she begged to go back to the beach, how could we say no?!

These two took swim lessons and both did awesome!

I loved watching Ella listen and learn from her instructor.

This kid is full on swimming on his own!

I just wanted one picture and Ella was shaking her "hiney bo" at me instead.

They did a week of VBS at their school. They LOVED it! And I loved my 3 hour break each day :)

One of my favorite things about this summer has been the fireflies! We have hundreds that come out at sunset and they have loved chasing them around and catching them.

Gettysburg

The weekend after the 4th of July we went to Gettysburg to see a reenactment. This has been on my to do list ever since we moved here. The anniversary of the battle was the 4th of July so I wanted to wait until we could see the reenactment. It was really neat! Bryan and I loved it, Hailey was bored, Kade was scared from the cannons, and Ella slept. Either way, I want to make another trip to do a battlefield tour because I felt like there was so much more that we didn't get to see. So to sum it up, Gettysburg completely surpassed Bryan and I's expectations!

I love, love, love this picture of Hailey and Kade!

We sat on the Union side. I loved how everyone was in character the entire time.

Guns, cannons, and everything else and this girl falls asleep.

Hailey in DC!

After New York, Hailey spent a week with us in Maryland. I really wanted to take her to see everything! One night we had tickets to go to the top of the monument so I thought it was the perfect night to take her around to see all the monuments. I loved getting to experience this with my sweet niece!

4th of July

We had a fantastic 4th of July this year. We talked and talked and talked about going in to DC for the 4th, but after reading all about it we decided against it. We want to at some point while we are here but there will be a lot of people and a lot of waiting so we want to let the kids get a little older.

Hailey was still with us so she joined in on the fun. We bought decorations and the kids decorated, we went to a cook out at some friends house, we tried to see fireworks but thanks to the trees they were blocked, and we had our own fireworks show in the driveway. It was low key and so perfect!
