Road trip to West Virginia

This time last year Bryan went with some friends to the Tech vs West Virginia game. He has since gone on and on and on about how we needed to take a trip there because it was just so beautiful. He talked about it enough I actually started to make fun of him and it became a running joke. Last Saturday we were throwing around some ideas to do that day and he brought up West Virginia again and I just decided to go with it. We were packed and ready for a road trip in less than an hour.

I know I made fun of Bryan and his love of WV, but he wasn't kidding! The entire drive was BEAUTIFUL! Most of the leaves were changing and we thoroughly enjoyed our drive.  Well except the last 30 miles... The Midland Trail was suppose to be pretty but it was up and down mountains and hills and it happened to be so foggy we couldn't see .25 miles in front of us. That combined with Bryan's race care driving and I almost had a heart attack.

The color was GORGEOUS. It is hard to even capture it in a picture.

The fog.

Bryan has always wanted to see this bridge, so it was our first stop. And for a fun little fact, it is the third tallest bridge in the US.

We did a lit of driving this weekend and these guys were awesome. We drag them everywhere so they are so used to being little troopers, but we were so proud of them.

This lake was actually in Maryland, in the little western part that is barely connected to the rest of the state.  Actually, according to Travel magazine it was voted best place to view fall foliage in the country. But in all honesty the mountains of West Virginia were a lot more vibrant to me. Maybe it was just the timing.

I love these spontaneous trips!!
