Handwriting

Several weeks ago Kade and I were just coloring in the kitchen and I asked if he could write his name. They have been working on it at school, but I was fairly certain Kade wasn't able to. He just turned three at the end of August so I didn't expect him to be able to for a while. I was surprised a little when I saw what he wrote. Yes, it looks like scribbles but I can see that he tried every letter. And they sorta resemble the right letter. The A and the E I can totally see. The D I can see the more I look at it and well the K, it needs some work. But nonetheless, I am so proud of him! We are continuing to work hard on writing his name and all the other letters!
When did my baby get old enough to write letters and his name? That seems crazy!

A cut for E!

Today Ella got her first haircut! I couldn't stand the mullet any longer so I propped her up on the counter in my bathroom, gave her a sucker, and trimmed the back! She is now sporting a cute little bob! Much better than the mullet.

Flower the Elf

Our Elf on the Shelf arrived the day after Thanksgiving! He rang the doorbell and showed up with a Christmas movie and some snow covered donuts! We let Kade name him and he picked Flower. I'm fairly certain that it was because he was sitting right next to a poinsetta so that's the first word that came to his mind. So that's his temporary name and next year Kade and Ella can decide on a permanent one together.

Our elf has been pretty calm. I guess he doesn't have the energy to do a bunch of crazy things that I have seen pictures of other Elves doing. He might do a few mischievous things between now and Christmas, we will just have to see!

This has been the extent of his craziness. But it caused SO many giggles from Kade! He said "Flower is crazy!!"

Hailey Anne turns 9!

Hailey turned 9 on Sunday! I can't believe it! I remember the day she was born, I was in Lubbock and after class I raced back to the metroplex because Kristen was being induced that day. I hurried because I didn't want to miss anything! Little did I know, she wouldn't make her appearance until 3am the next day! I love this girl like she is my own and I am so proud of her! Happy Birthday sweet niece!

Fall day

At this moment I am sitting outside with my babies on a perfect fall day. Leaves everywhere, crisp air, layered clothes, perfection. And they are playing nicely together! Double the perfection!

Thanksgiving 2012

Thanksgiving this year was great! I hosted at my house for the first time and it was a success! I didn't take many pictures because I was cooking, cleaning, and hanging out with my family but we had a lot of fun! Everyone stayed until midnight playing games and eating!!! I have so many things I am thankful for this year, and more blessings than I can even count. I am a luck girl!

Tree lighting

Over Thanksgiving break we went to the Southlake Town Square tree lighting. It was SO MUCH FUN! The had snow tubing hills, hot chocolate, snow machines, cookie decorating, and pretty much anything else you can think of! We had a really great time. I love making memories with my family. My favorite one of the night was when we raced, girls vs boys back to the car. We probably looked like lunatics running through the town square but our kids were laughed and yelling with excitement so who cares! And for the record the boys won, but only because us girls let them.

Thanksgiving feast

The week before Thanksgiving, Kade has his feast at school. The first thing they did was sing a few Turkey songs for all the parents! It was ADORABLE! I teared up a bit, I tear up at everything so that's nothing new. I just love watching my boy up there singing his heart out! I am so proud of him! We are so THANKFUL for this precious boy! (And our precious girl!)

The boy next to Kade is Jonathon. They are big buds and Kade talks about him ALL THE TIME.

Bryan was filing away! He is so proud of Kade too!!

These feathers were on a giant turkey in the lobby. Kade's feather is the yellow one in the back. He is thankful for mom and dad! (Melt my heart!) But as a side note, they had place mats in their rooms that also said what they were thankful for. Kade's said Gracie. You know, the dog that went to live with another family TEN months ago. She is also still first in line in his prayers. Strangely enough, he never asks where she is....

A day at the zoo

Several weeks ago we met Allie and Emerson at the zoo! We hadn't been in a while so we were due for a trip. I think it counted as Ella's first official trip. She had been before, but slept in the infant carrier the entire time. This time she was awake and enjoying it! Later that night I was quizzing her on animal sounds and when I asked what the monkey said, she responded with "oh oh oh ah ah"! Looks like our zoo trip was educational for the little E!

Except she did say the same thing when we asked what other animals said, were working on that..

Family photos

On Sunday, I decided it was time for us all to get dressed and head out to do out self timer family photos. Not only did I need a picture for my card, we needed family pictures pretty bad. So we all got dressed and headed out to the place I had my eye on to take pictures. We pulled up and the gate was CLOSED! The park has closed just 5 minutes prior. In effort to not waste the fact that we were ALL DRESSED we headed over to my parents, their house is beautiful so it is an easy  place to go. We did a few self timer ones and a the rest my mom took. I am pleasantly surprised that we got one, or several, that I like! I keep my expectations low and hope for just one that I like enough for the card and to frame so if I get more than that I am excited :)

And I decided to add a few outtakes :)

Kade's face in this pictures kills me! On our way to take the pictures I told Kade he could have a special treat if he listened and smiled for the pictures. He said ok, then said here is my pretty smile and made this face... Beautiful, Kade, beautiful.

Sister girl was not having it. She was MAD that she couldn't get up and walk around. Have I mentioned that she has an attitude?

At this point Ella was eating goldfish and Kade was dying laughing because my dad was hitting my mom (who was taking the picture) over the heading with a balloon. Gotta love grandparents!
