Apple Picking

I decided to take the kids apple picking today at Homestead Farms. It is quite a drive from us but I felt prepared and thought it would be fun. We loaded up this morning with breakfast, Mickey on the iPad, and coffee in hand to make the trek. By the time we got there I was patting myself on the back for a job well done. This was our first big outing since moving here and I navigated through DC like a champ and made it to the farm pretty decent time! And that's when I realized I left my wallet at home. All my gloating was quickly over with and I thought I was going to have to tell the kids that we could walk around, but we wouldn't be leaving with any apples or any other goodies.

Luckily I thought to ask the workers if Bryan could call and pay over the phone and they were more than willing to let him do that so the day was saved! We got our wheelbarrow and basket and headed out to pick us some apples! I don't know what varieties we ended up with, but all are delicious! The air was crisp and every time I turned around Kade was grabbing another apple and eating them right off the tree! I bet he seriously ate about 5 total apples, and Ella probably ate 2! It was a wonderful adventure and I am sure we will make it a yearly tradition! Hopefully next time Bryan can join in on the fun!

Weekend fun!

This weekend was so much fun! Our Saturday was packed full!!! We left the house at 9:30 and didn't get back until 8 at night! We started the day with family day at Bryan's work. This was special because for the past 6 years I've never been able to see where he actually works! I know the building but since I don't have clearance to go on it's just a big mystery to me! So I loved getting to see where he goes everyday and meet some of his new coworkers. They had a bounce house for the kids, as well as face painting, hot dogs, and sno cones!

After we left there we headed down to historical St Mary's City. It was the 4 settlement in America and it was so neat! We happened to catch a certain day where everyone was in full colonial garb and they made the experience really fun! They had interactive stuff for the kids like a puppet show and musket training! We ran out of time but we really want to visit again!

After that we drove to Alexandria to furniture shop, pick up a Craigslist tool, and eat dinner! We had Mexican food for the first time since moving here and all I can say is Praise The Lord! It was such a great weekend with my little family!

Sidenote: My blogging app is doing crazy things with my pictures so I have no idea what order these will upload in!

Everyday life and Bryan's birthday

So much fun has been happening around here! We are getting settled and loving exploring our new area! Last weekend was Bryan's birthday. His aunt and uncle were in town and we had the best time! I can't explain how happy it made us to have a little piece of home here in Maryland! They spoiled my kids rotten and we were all sad time went by so fast! On Bryan's birthday we went to Annapolis and had crab cakes and ice cream on the Chesapeake Bay. We also shopped and walked around taking in the gorgeous weather and views! I only took two pictures and I'm kicking myself for not taking more! But I also included some other pics of our everyday life!

Someone got into the markers..

Trying on their costumes!

Could this view be any better?

Halloween jams!

Following a horse and buggy to the grocery store has become somewhat normal to me now.

Charles County Fair

I love me a fair. I come by it naturally, my Mimi loved fairs. I have so many fond memories of going to the local carnival in the mall parking lot when we would visit. Bryan says my love of fairs is a tad WT, but I don't care at all. I.love.fairs.

Naturally when I saw that there was a fair coming near us I was all about it. Last weekend we went to the Charles County Fair and had the best time! It was chilly, and there were hot dogs, funnel cakes, pig races, farm animals, and carnival rides. We had SO much fun and Bryan said it was his favorite fair he has ever been to!

Saturday night we stayed home and grilled out. Then we busted out the firepit for the first time this season! We made s'mores, the kids played baseball in the backyard, and then after the kids went down Bryan and I sat outside for an at home date night! What a great weekend!
