Lazy days of summer

We have had so much fun these first few weeks of summer. Staying up late, a week with cousins, aquarium visits, spending our days in the back yard, popsicles by the pool, and afternoon naps... It's shaping up to be a fantastic summer.

We went strawberry picking a week or so ago.

Painting with water on the driveway is always a hit.

EC was terrified in the car wash :)

My grocery shopping buddy

Kade has his end of year tball party!

I think I've mentioned it before but Ella loves to "hide" under blankets on the floor. I'm fairly certain she thinks we really don't have a clue where she is. I walked in my room the other day to see this. I sent this picture to Bryan asking if he knew where she was. :)

Ella had her end of year show off at ballet. I have many more pictures to put up.

Group hug on the last day!

We baked a tie dye cake.

I bought some sparklers and pop it's. The sparklers scared Ella but both kids love the pop it's! We got into a boys vs girls war with them on the driveway.

First few days of summer

I have really been looking forward to this week. We have been on the go so much lately that I was really ready for a slow week with nothing to do. I had to tell myself to stay home, let the kids just play, and relax a little. As wonderful as all that sounds, it is sometimes really hard for me to do. After several days of being "bored" I feel so much better! This week is just what we needed!

Sweet summer girl :)

Homemade slip and slide

This has been our week. Slip and slides and playing in their little pool. Perfection!

She was busy making me "coffee."

This was at ballet. The second half of her class is spent in the gym and I realized I've never taken any pictures. And I'm not going to lie, the past several weeks have been rough at ballet. Ella has had some pretty crazy moments and we are hanging on until our last class next week. :)

Last night as they were getting in bed I decided to surprise them by letting them stay up late to watch a movie. And they got cookies and milk. Kade told me it was the best night ever.

So here we are, it's 7am and my kids are still asleep. Considering they haven't slept past 7 in who knows how long I consider this a summer miracle! Today our plans are the same as the rest of the week! I will continue to clean out some closets and the most of the day will  be spent around here. Then tomorrow we have a lot to do to get ready for our guests coming on Saturday! My kids are bedside themselves, they are so excited for Braxton and Briley to get here!!!!!!!

The beach

On Sunday we went to a nearby beach. It was actually on the bay but it had sand and saltwater so we will call it a beach! It was perfect!!! It was so easy! The water was shallow enough everywhere that it was perfect for little ones. The kids played their little hearts, by the time we left they were worn out! It was only 45 minutes away and an easy enough place for me to take the kids alone so we are planning several more visits this summer!!

Kade made a friend the moment we got there and he was a giant blur the entire time. From the pirate ship, to the water, to building sand castles. He never stopped!

This picture makes me laugh out loud. She hides like this under blankets at the house and we have to "find" her. But here she wanted to hide from the sun so she grabbed her towel and went and say like this all by herself. I wonder what other people on the beach were thinking. Haha!

Summer!!!!

Friday was our first official day of summer! Our summer is packed! I mean crazy full with lots of fun stuff. We only a have a week here and there of downtime so I really want to make the best of it and just relax and do fun summer activities. We kicked off summer with a ban, and I am already tired so we are taking it easy this week.

On Friday morning we met some friends for ice skating. Because nothing screams 'summer' like ice skating and got chocolate, haha! But it was a lot of fun and also a lot of work! Kade had some bad falls but he didn't care because we were with one of his favorite little friend!

After we left ice skating we went to the park for the school wide picnic. Let me say, an entire school (preschool-8th grade) at a park with a giant lake/pond nearby is very stressful! I took one picture bc I was running around like crazy trying to keep up with them!

We went home for much needed naps and then we went downtown to see the Nats play the rangers! We love going to Rangers games so we were happy they were in town, even if the game did not go the way we wanted!

Saturday we started our day with tball and then worked in the house and yard all day. That night we had some friends over for a cookout. On Sunday we loaded up and went to a nearby beach the weather was perfect and so was the beach! I took too many pictures so I'll post them in a seperate post! By Sunday night we were exhausted! This morning has been all about staying in our jammies and playing at home!

Last tball game

Saturday was Kade's last tball game! I have LOVED watching him play. We loved his team, his friends, the coach, just everything about it! He was so sad when I told him it was his last game, he already wants to play again this fall!

Way to go Kade!
